A letter from Carol  Toomey, SBAC Chairperson

Hello Everyone ?

Last month, the SBAC Board met to discuss the status of our organization and decide on the best approach to ensure that our SB families in Connecticut can be best supported in the future. As I am sure many of you can guess, non-profit organizations across the country have struggled with financial viability during these challenging times, and the SBAC is no exception. We have also struggled to fill board and committee positions, and have operated at below recommended levels for several years.  Between dwindling funding and lack of volunteers, we have realized that we cannot continue in our current model of support for Connecticutӂ families.

After much discussion and soul searching the board made the tough decision that as of June 1, 2014 the SBAC will cease all activities and programs and prepare to permanently close the organization. This was a very difficult decision for us, especially for those who have been involved for so many years.

We will be looking into other avenues of zapatillas asics for you over the next 3 months, as we complete activities to dissolve the SBAC and we will update you once we know more.  Shutting down the business aspects of SBAC includes awarding any scholarships that have already been applied for and addressing outstanding bills. We plan to issue an announcement once we have determined any final awards of scholarships.

I଩ke to thank all of the current board, committee members and staff who have spent many hours of their own time to serve our community:

Board Members: Stephanie Beck, Dr. Roger Thrall, Donna Savino, Jaclyn Lanzetti, Kara Maloney, Francine Hebert & Rebecca Hajosey

Committee Members: Hannah Kristan, Caitlin & Anthony Mongillo, Janet Lanzetti & Karen Kristan

I want to especially recognize Kiley Carlson, our Executive Director. Kiley has been with SBAC almost from the beginning; first as a volunteer for 14 years and then as our Executive Director for the last 7 years. His ongoing dedication to serving our community is inspiring, and I am truly grateful for his guidance and support during my time on the board.

Lastly, I want to thank all of you for allowing me to serve in my role on the board for the last 8 years. It has been a privilege and an honor, and I hope that you have found support from SBAC that has improved you and your family଩ves in some way.

Over the next few months Kiley, Dr. Thrall, Kara and I will oversee the final business of the SBAC.  If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us by email at sbac@sbac.org.  Stay tuned for more information over the summer.

 Best wishes~

Carol
